Seeds and Snow

We have had a blizzard going on here for the last few days. We have over a foot of new snow on top of the foot we still had.  Meanwhile the house is filling with thousands of tiny seedlings.  Luckily we are only weeks away from acquiring our first greenhouse.

Here is what has sprouted so far:  Chantilly snapdragons, leeks, foxglove, dianthus, rudbeckia and delphiniums.

I also have a bunch of stuff in the fridge getting an artificial winters chill to help germination.

We have some big sowing dates coming up.  March 23, March 30, April 1, April 6, April 15, and May 1 are all big ones.  We also have lots of stuff that needs to be direct sown as soon as the soil can be worked, whenever the heck that is.  This snow is relentless.

We have massive plans for the farm.  Some trees are coming down.  A greenhouse is going up.  A shed to coop makeover.  A farm stand.  Farmers market.  Thousands of square feet of planting beds to prep.  Irrigation to set up.  And a wedding!
