Perbellus Flower Farm has been in the works for most of my life, taking on different forms over the years. It was about five years ago that I stumbled upon the idea of CSA and cut flower farming. We purchased our home on 5 acres with a garage and two sheds, in Cedar Michigan on the beautiful and agriculturally rich, Leelanau county, in November 2012. The land is rolling with sugar maples on about half the acreage. We have one tillable acre on the property and now lease an acre down the road.
We have huge plans for the land. A little maple syrup production, some chickens, ducks, rabbits and goats to provide food and fertilizer. Flowers, fruits and vegetables everywhere. Wildlife sanctuary for beneficial birds and insects. A roadside stand, small farm events and classes.
Time to work!
